Weekend Edition – Win One Of 15 Double Passes To Gothic

Win one of 15 double passes to Gothic, Giallo, Gore: Masters of Italian Horror at GOMA

Celebrating the works of three major figures of Italian giallo film, Mario Bava, Lucio Fulci and Dario Argento, Gothic, Giallo, Gore: Masters of Italian Horror will thrill audiences this spring at GOMA.

The gruesome and highly stylised thrillers of the giallo genre were popularised in Italy in the 1960s – the innovative cinematography took horror cinema to outrageous new extremes. The style became more pronounced with convoluted scenes of mayhem and death, and the intense psychosexual edge made it one of the most alluring forms of European cinema.

GOMA and Brisbane Festival will present a collection of giallo’s greatest titles, alongside some of its important gothic horror influences. The program looks at the more blood-spattered and visceral works of Bava and Fulci, which were key in shaping international horror cinema for decades.

Masters of their craft, Bava, Fulci and Argento played a huge role in the advancement of Italian horror. See the best of these directors on the big screen – from Bava’s gothic bone-chiller Black Sunday (1960), to gory descendants such as Argento’s masterpieces Deep Red (1975) and Suspiria (1977), and Fulci’s Zombi 2 (1979). As well as featuring rare 35-mm prints from national and private archives, there will be vibrant digital restorations.

The Weekend Edition is giving its readers the chance to win one of 15 double passes to the film of their choice at Gothic, Giallo, Gore: Masters of Italian Horror in partnership with QAGOMA. Enter below for your chance to win.
