‘Capture Whitehorse’ What’s it all about?
The City of Whitehorse is turning 20!
So get your smart phones and tablets out…. and use your amazing Instagram skills to help us record what Whitehorse is all about in 2014.
We’re looking for what you find is awesome about living, working, playing or studying in the City of Whitehorse. Show us how photography can showcase the people, places and objects in your day……. or even turn your everyday events into something unusual, funny or quirky.
Things you need to know!
 Entry is open to all over the age of 13 years old who, live, work, play or study in the City of Whitehorse
 Three entries only per person
 Picture must be taken and submitted on Wednesday 16 July, 2014
between the hours of 12.00am and 11.59pm
 The finalists will be announced on the BHCAC Facebook page and website on 30 July, 2014
 Finalists photos will be exhibited in the BHCAC Gallery from 2 – 21 September, 2014
 Prizes – yes! – there will be some fabulous prizes and accolades and fuzzy feelings – see Full Terms and Conditions
 Prize winners will be announced at the exhibition opening at BHCAC on 4 September, 6 – 8pm
 Images may be used as promotional material by the City of Whitehorse

How to enter

2. Download the Instagram app for Android or iPhone/iPad
3. Take and edit your photo on Wednesday 16 July, 2014
4. Upload the photo to Instagram with the hashtag #capturewhitehorse

All the formal stuff – Full Terms and Conditions
1. Information on how to enter form part of the terms and conditions of entry. Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.
2. The promoter is the City of Whitehorse, Box Hill Community Arts Centre (BHCAC) – ABN 39 549 568822
3. Entry is open to all who live, work, play or study in the City of Whitehorse, over the age of 13 years old.
4. The competition commences at 12.00am (AEST) on Wednesday 16 July, 2014 and closes at 11.59pm (AEST) on Wednesday 16 July, 2014.
5. Entries must be received by 11.59pm (AEST) Wednesday 16 July, 2014. The time of entry will in each case be the time the online entry is received by the BHCAC database. The promoter accepts no responsibility for any late, lost or misdirected entries due to technical disruptions, network congestion or for any other reason.
6. Only entries submitted via the Instagram application and which are appropriately hashtagged #capturewhitehorse will be accepted. Photographs submitted must be original works. We encourage entrants to geotag their photos.
7. Entries are limited to a maximum of three (3) per entrant. Users found in breach of this limit will forfeit their right to compete.
8. If the winner is under the age of 18 years, the prize will be awarded to their parent or legal guardian.
9. The competition is a game of skill, and chance plays no part in the selection of the winner. Submissions will be judged according to the following criteria:
Relevance to the theme, artistic interpretation and originality.
10. The judges’ decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into. Prizes cannot be transferred. Non-cash prizes cannot be redeemed for cash
11. BHCAC reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and to disqualify any entry which, in the opinion of promoter, includes objectionable content, profanity, potentially insulting, inflammatory or defamatory statements, disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry process, who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these terms and conditions of entry or who has, in the opinion of BHCAC, engaged in conduct in entering the competition which is fraudulent, misleading, deceptive or generally damaging to the goodwill or reputation of the promotion and/or City of Whitehorse.

12. The cost of accessing the promotional website will be dependant on the entrant’s individual internet service provider.
13. Use of images:
 All images published on Instagram with #capturewhitehorse may be moderated and displayed on the City of Whitehorse website and the BHCAC website and Facebook page. These images and associated usernames will be public to all.
 By entering the competition and accepting the terms and conditions you agree your images can be broadcast via digital feeds or printed for physical events by the City of Whitehorse.
 The winner will not be entitled to any fee for such use. 14. Use of personal information:
 By entering the competition and accepting the terms and conditions, you agree that the City of Whitehorse may use your personal details for the purpose of conducting the competition, including the use of your Instagram name in promotional formats.
 By entering the competition, you give the City of Whitehorse permission to contact you via Instagram if you are a winner of the competition.
15. The promoter reserves the right to request winners to provide proof of identity and proof of residency at the nominated prize delivery address. Identification considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the promoter.
16. The promoter shall endeavour to contact the finalists via their Instagram account by 23 July, 2014. In the event that a finalist cannot be contacted, an alternate finalist will be selected.

18. Promotion of the ‘Capture Whitehorse Instagram Competition’ is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram. Instagram and the Camera logos are trademarks of Instagram, LLC in the United States and elsewhere.
19. Winners prizes are as follows:
Major prize: $1,000
To be decided by a judging panel consisting of representatives from the Whitehorse City Council and sponsors.
School Bonus Award: $1,000
To be awarded to the school with the most geotagged entries.
People’s Choice Award: $300
Finalist’s photos will be posted to the BHCAC Facebook page. Winner to be decided by the greatest number of BHCAC Facebook likes for each finalists image.
