If you’ve been to the handful of top design markets in Australia, chances are you will have seen Lauren Ferry with a megaphone yelling ‘Come one, come all!’ and spruiking her wares. That’s how we imagine it anyway, but the reality is a little less ‘codger in a polo shirt and combover’ and a little more demure on Ferry’s part. The crowds come to her. A seasoned veteran of the indie design scene, she’s been creating jewellery and leathergoods under the label Oktoberdee for the last ten years. Someone get this woman a solid gold watch for long service already.

Based in Geelong, Ferry designs every piece in her home studio, where she’s surrounded by found objects and inspirational tidbits that send her off on tangents of creativity. From bags, clutches and wallets to earrings and necklaces, Ferry uses her unique eye to place colour, texture and fun at the forefront of her designs.
